What blocks it
N26 is not a globally open signup product. If China is not on the supported-country list, the practical answer is that you should not expect to open a normal local account there.
- The product is built around supported resident markets
- Old assumptions about earlier expansion plans are not enough
- Unsupported-country users need a different primary banking option
What to use instead
In China, it makes more sense to choose a bank or fintech that actually supports local onboarding and local payment habits.
- Top alternatives here: local bank accounts, Alipay, WeChat Pay
- Use multi-currency products only when they fit the real use case
- Do not rely on N26 as a workaround for unsupported resident markets
